Vaux le Vicomte

The Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte  is  located in Maincy, near Melun  in the Seine-et-Marne department in the region of Île-de-France.

 

From Paris Gare de Lyon train R in 25 minutes to Melun.

In Melun there is a shuttle service.

This service you have to book.

 

 

 

It is built between 1658 and 1661.

 

The main château is constructed entirely on a moated platform, reached via two bridges, both aligned with the central axis and placed on the north and south sides

He was a French landscape architect and the principal gardener of King Louis XIV of France.

He was the landscape architect who designed the Gardens of Vaux le Vicomte. 

Also he designed the Gardens of Versailles, Chantilly, Sceaux and Fontainebleau
