Abbaye de Moncel

The Abbey of Saint-Jean-Baptiste du Moncel is located in Pontpoint, in the department of Oise, in the Hauts-de-France region.


The abbey was founded by Philippe le Bel in 1309.

The chartroom, which may also have been used to store the abbey’s treasures, is the only vaulted room in the abbey.

The abbey can be visited from March to November inclusive every day except Mondays .

 

On Sundays and public holiday it opens at around 10am.

 

From Paris you take the train to Pont-Sainte-Maxence station, then a 20-minute walk through the town.
