Royaumont Abbey is a former Cistercian abbey, located near Asnières-sur-Oise in Val-d'Oise.

Typical of the Cistercian cloisters, the Royaumont cloister is designed around an interior garden.

 

It is thought to be adorned with medicinal and aromatic plants, reflecting the importance of self-sufficiency and harmony with nature for Cistercian monks.

 

It was transformed into a French garden in 1912 by Achille Duchêne.
