Caen

Caen is located in the department Calvados in the Normandy region.

 

It’s known for its rich history, particularly during the medieval period and World War II.

 

From Paris Gare Saint Lazare is takes 2hours to Caen.

Escolville mansion

 

This private mansion belonged to Nicolas le Valois d’Escoville.

 

It was built in 1533 on the Place Saint-Pierre. 

These twin houses were built in the first quarter of the 16th century.

 

The houses are the last remnants of medieval timber-frame architecture. 

 

The house on the left belonged at one point to Michel Mabrey, Alderman of the City in 1509. 

Place de la république. 

The church of Saint-Étienne-le-Vieux is a historic church that is notable for its unique architectural style and its significance to the city’s history. 

The church dates back to the 12th century and is one of the oldest in Caen. It was originally built as part of a larger monastic complex and dedicated to St. Stephen, the first Christian martyr.

Palais de Justice 

Parc Michel-d’Ornano. 

The Cèdre du Liban is a remarkable tree planted in 1849 at the top of a hill in Parc Michel-d’Ornano.

 

It was planted to commemorate the massacres of Maronite Christians in Lebanon in 1845.
