Abbaye Saint-Victor

Fortified tower of the Abbey of St. Victor.

Information.

 

Bus 60 from Vieux Port to the stop ‘Saint-Victor’. 

The Abbey of Saint-Victor is a former abbey that was founded in the 5th century.

 

It is named after the local soldier saint and martyr, Victor of Marseilles.

In 1794 the abbey was stripped of its treasures.

 

All that now remains of the abbey is the church of St. Victor, dedicated by Pope Benedict IX in 1040 and rebuilt in 1200.
