Berck sur Mer is located in the departement Nord Pas Calais.
It was a formerly a fishing harbour.
It is famous for its beach, the largest in the area (7 km long and 1.5 km wide at low tide[1]), and its international kite festivals.
At the end of the 19th century, some of the greatest artists (Édouard Manet and others) came to Berck to paint its skies.

This soldier is a marine from the 1870 war.
A colony of seals settled…a long time ago in the Baie d’Authie.
The grey seals and calves that make up this colony can be observed every day of the year, at low tide, at the junction between the Authie and the English Channel, near the Club Nautique Berckois at the end of Chemin aux Raisins.
