Maison d’éducation de la légion d’honneur

The maisons d’éducation de la Légion d’honneur are the French secondary schools set up by Napoleon and originally meant for the education of girls whose father, grandfather or great-grandfather had been awarded the Légion d’honneur.

 

Access is still by hereditary right.

The Saint-Denis education centre occupies the cloister of the former royal abbey of Saint-Denis, next to the abbey church, which is now the Saint-Denis basilica.

*Le Comte de Monte-Cristo will grace the walls of this school.

 

The Maison de Saint-Denis also hosts a number of concerts at the Festival de Musique de Saint-Denis10.

The door is the work of Brother Pierre Denis, a monk who was a master of ironwork at Saint-Denis, 18th century.
