La Rochelle

” Grosse Horloge” tower.

La Rochelle is a city located at the west coast of France and a seaport on the Bay of Biscay, a part of the Atlantic Ocean. It is situated the Charente-Maritime department.

It is connected to the Ile de Ré

He was a naval officer of the 18th century, native of La Rochelle.

Saint Nicolas Tower.

 

The constructions started in 1345 and was finished around 1384.

The tower along with the Lantern tower and the Chain tower, is one of the three medieval towers guarding the port in of La rochelle.

Construction started at 1445 and was finished in 1468.

 

The Lantern tower served as a Lighthouse and a prison throughout its history. 

The Chain Tower.

 

The construction started around 1378.

 

The tower got its name because, at various points in history, a chain was stretched between the two structures to prevent ships from passing through.

Promenade Allée des Tamaris.

The promenade Allée des Tamaris is extended by the Nelson Mandela Bridge and the Dam Nouveau Monde.

 

These places are just beautiful at sunsetoff the coast, you can see the Phare au bout du Monde (Light of the End of the World) a replica of the The Phare au bout du Monde in Patagonia erected in 1884 in Tierra del Fuego.
