Notre Dame of Paris

Notre-Dame de Paris is a medieva cathedral on the Île de la Cité  in the 4th arrondissement of Paris.

The closest métro station is metro 4 and RER B  Saint Michel de Notre-Dame.

You can book a visit on the website of the Notre-Dame at midnight 3 days before.

You can also do the queue but the waiting time is between 20 minutes and 2 hours

The construction of the cathedral began in 1163 and was completed in 1260.

A fire in April 2019 caused serious damage, closing the cathedral for repairs; it reopened in December 2024.

Al the pictures are from my visite in January after the reopening in December.

The stained glass windows in the sacristy cloister depict scenes from the life of Saint Genevieve (circa. 420-500).

Saint Genevieve is the patron saint of Paris. Under each stained glass window, a Latin inscription explaine the scene.

The chapter has always gathered here for meetings and to welcome important visitors, but above all, the chapter room is where the chapter welcomes new canons every year on December 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the chapter’s patron Feast day.
