Cathedral Saint Croix of Orléans

The cathedral Saint Croix of Orléans is located in Orléans, the department Loiret in the region of Centre-Val de Loire.

 

From Paris Gare Austerlitz is 1h10 by train. 

It was  built between 1278 to 1329 and rebuilt between 1601 and 1829. 

 

The cathedral is dedicated to the Holy Cross.

During the Siege of Orléans,Siege of Orléans, the cathedral was visited frequently by Joan of Arc.

The 13th-century axial chapel is dedicated to Notre Dame.

It was decorated in the 17th century with an altarpiece around a Virgin of Pitié
