Cassis

Cassis is a situated at the east of Marseille in the department of Bouches-du-Rhône in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region.

From Marseille is takes 20 minutes by train. 

 

It is famous for its cliffs (falaises) and the sheltered inlets called calanques. The wines of Cassis are white and rosé.

The Cassis Sails. Traditional sailing boats take part in these Cassis regattas in May

A festival of fishermen and the sea (June) 

Cassis wine festival and grape harvest (early September). 

Statue de Calendal.

Calendal is the hero of Frédérique Mistral’s work, a French writer and  he won in 1904 the Nobel Prize in Literature.
